Defending champions Edinburgh Academy secured a place in the last four of the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Under-18 Cup after defeating North Berwick High School 42-5 at New Field yesterday with a display of accurate passing and intelligent running and crucial off-loading from outstanding No.8 Cameron Simpson.

Last year's beaten finalists Stewart's Melville College had to work hard to see off a battling Dollar Academy side10-5 in their quarter-final.

The visitors started the stronger and took the lead at Inverleith through a try by back-row Scott Cubitt after just five minutes.

In the 20th minute Stewart's Melville took the lead when winger Leo Bargery ran in for the converted score.

Hagart then added a penalty before the interval to stretch their lead to 10-5.
