Rugby: Musselburgh stretch their winning run to 12 games

Musselburgh made it 12 wins from 12 in RBS National One on Saturday, this time defeating Edinburgh University Blues at Peffermill.

Graeme Bowman, James Murray and Liam Draycott scored tries in the first half against the students. Paddy Brown secured the bonus point early in the second half with Paul Davis adding a fifth try shortly afterwards. Danny Owenson converted three tries and kicked a penalty.

The final score was 34-10 and it means that the East Lothian men have scored an amazing 448 points this term.

The home loss leaves Edinburgh University Blues eighth.

Murrayfield Wanderers are third, 13 points behind the leaders, after a convincing 75-0 thumping of Livingston at home.

The Capital team seem to have hit a good run of form having now notched up 139 points in the last two matches.

Second placed Hawick YM are doing their best to keep up with Musselburgh, six points behind them after a 20-3 home win over Border rivals Langholm.

Elsewhere, in the division on Saturday RHC Cougars edged out Linlithgow 9-6 in a tight affair in West Lothian. The victory leaves them sixth and Linlithgow struggling in tenth.

Garnock beat Dunfermline 15-13 and Ellon saw off Kilmarnock 35-17.
