Rugby: Muir must see off arch rivals insists Smith

BOROUGHMUIR backs coach Phil Smith has urged his side to finally banish the spectre of relegation when they face Watsonians at Meggetland tomorrow.

He said: "One more win will see us safe and there is also an opportunity to put a Scottish Cup defeat at (third division) Cartha QP behind us. That was one of the lowest nights of my rugby life but we have been playing well in the second half of this season and victory tomorrow would reinforce our progress."

Watsonians lie second bottom, five points behind Edinburgh Accies but with a game in hand. 'Muir will be without injured wingers Tom Bury and Ed Mills for the game, which kicks off at 2.30pm, while Malcolm Clapperton is on Scotland clubs duty.

For Watsonians Garret Walsh takes over at hooker from Gregor Wood, who is with the Scottish clubs' team and Smith added: "Watsonians will either be driven by desperation for points or else it will be too much for them."

Accies head for Glasgow Hawks with stand off Gavin Douglas fit again and youngsters Jamie Sole and Tom Steven keeping their places after debuts in the Cup defeat at Currie. The knock-out competition continues with Heriot's visiting Dundee.
