Rugby league side Crusaders suspend seven

Super League's bottom club Crusaders have suspended seven first-team players following alleged breaches of club discipline.

Jason Chan, Gil Dudson, Richard Moore, Peter Lupton, Jordan Tansey, Jarrod Sammut and Lloyd White have all been told they will not be selected for tomorrow's match against Hull KR.

Crusaders chief executive Rod Findlay said: "We will not be going into the details of what happened but the club's code of discipline was broken. The players have let the club, fans and themselves down and we have taken the appropriate action."

The club say they will be making no further comment on the matter but insist the remaining members of the squad are fully focused on tomorrow's match at home against Hull KR.

The axing leaves coach Iestyn Harris with limited resources for the clash with Rovers and he seems certain to attempt to bolster his squad with loan acquisitions ahead of today's signing deadline.

Crusaders have turned to sister club South Wales Scorpions for help with the Championship 1 outfit allowing Aled James, Joe Burke and Dalton Grant to join the Super League club on loan.

Wales international James, 29, who is player performance manager for Wales Rugby League, has played in Super League for Widnes.
