Rugby: Johnstone going strong at Wanderers

Young scrum-half Murray Johnstone continued his impressive season for Murrayfield Wanderers with 24 points as they defeated Langholm 64-8 in RBS National 1.

They put the Borderers to the sword in the shadow of the national stadium, 20-year-old Johnstone leading the way with two tries and seven conversions. Barry Turnbull also weighed in with a duo of tries as did former Stewart’s Melville centre Alex Cox.

Roger Hastings, Arran Richards, Niall Watson and Stuart Niven also crossed the whitewash to leave Bruce Aitchison’s side in third. They are still 13 points behind runaway leaders Musselburgh though, who have now defeated every team in the league and scored 414 points after easily seeing off bottom side Livingston 83-7 at Stoneyhill.
