Rugby: Jackson can lean on Blair in 'A' clash

RISING star Ruaridh Jackson will look to draw on the experience of half-back partner Mike Blair when Scotland 'A' aim for six successive matches unbeaten against Irish Wolfhounds in Belfast tonight.

Jackson is the 21-year-old Glasgow stand off who piloted Scotland A to the Nations Cup in Romania over the summer (along with Blair's brother, David) and was tipped for the top until being injured in the opening match of this season. Now, with a couple of starts under his belt, he is ready to make up for lost time and knows he is fortunate to have another Lion, Chris Cusiter, as his scrum half at Glasgow.

"Mike has been there, done that and it will be really good working with him," said Jackson, who can expect ample possession from a solid Scottish pack.

Against that, the Irish had a run out last week in going down 17-13 to English Saxons at Bath and Scotland 'A' have not played since facing Tonga in November.

• SCOTLAND'S top women are in action tomorrow with the A side facing their French counterparts at Lasswade (6pm) followed by a full international at 7.30pm.

• EDINBURGH RUGBY forwards coach and double British Lion Tom Smith is among those listed to turn out for Scottish legends against a French side at Meggetland tomorrow (1.30pm) in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
