Rugby: Inverleith surrender unbeaten record and top spot

Inverleith lost their unbeaten RBS East Three record and the top spot on Saturday.

The Arboretum-based outfit went in to their lunchtime game with St Boswells with nine league wins from nine, but with the Borderers breathing down their necks after a ‘triple’ win over Moray House the previous week. Due to fixture congestion the 71-0 RBS East Regional Bowl semi-final win St Boswells recorded nine days ago helped them through to the final and counted as two league victories. And they built on that good performance to win 27-3 in the Capital. Inverleith are still only three points behind though and have three matches in hand so it is not all doom and gloom.

And after a 24-0 win at Walkerburn, Penicuik went level on points with Inverleith and have thrown themselves right in to the intriguing race for the title.
