Rugby: Hogg has point to prove as Falcons descend on Glasgow

FORMER Edinburgh Rugby star Ally Hogg will tonight enter a new season resolved to proving his international days are far from over despite being omitted from the World Cup squad.

"I still have a massive desire to play for Scotland," said Hogg who left Edinburgh two years ago to join Newcastle Falcons.

Falcons travel to Glasgow for a friendly and Hogg hopes that can be a stepping stone towards adding to his 48 caps, the last of which were gained at back row in 2009. And the 28-year-old added: "I have just got to keep my head down and play well. If I can show up well the Six Nations could hopefully be a possibility.

"It is one of those things you just have to take on the chin, which I have, and the way to approach it is to throw yourself into your club rugby and do the right things."

Meanwhile, Boroughmuir have turned to Gala to plug a gap in their tournament at Meggetland tomorrow also featuring Dundee High and Watsonians after Haddington pulled out.
