Rugby: Hines still has the hunger

SCOTLAND enforcer Nathan Hines is ready to answer his country's call to arms as long as he is required.

Looking forward to the award of a 62nd Scotland cap when France visit Murrayfield to open the RBS Six Nations rugby Championship on Sunday, Hines shows no signs of relenting even aged 33.

"I'm not looking to stop playing," says Hines who will be competing in his eighth championship.

"Physically and mentally I'm in better shape than I have probably in the last four or five years."

That well-being is attributed to a summer move from Perpignan to Leinster which has rejuvenated his career.

"The strength and conditioning guys at Leinster really pay attention to how you're feeling and how your body is and adjust your training schedules accordingly."

Hines is also eager to experience Six Nations rugby under new coach Andy Robinson.

"He lets you know what game plan he wants to play.

"He lets you know what he thinks you're good at and what he wants you to do in the game to help the team.

"You've got a really simple idea of what you need to do in the game.

"Your head's not cluttered with other things.

"You're just worried about doing your job.

"He can be intense. He's confident in his own ability and places a lot of confidence in us."
