Rugby: Hamner time for Inverleith as they maintain great start

Nick Hamner ran in a hat-trick of tries as Inverleith’s great start to the RBS East Three
season continued on Saturday.

Last week on the opening day the men from Arboretum had scored 51 points to defeat Walkerburn and at the weekend they went ten points better with a 61-6 triumph over Queensferry.

Hamner was the star of the show, but overall it was a clinical team showing and they will be delighted with the way they are playing at the moment.

Liberton, having been inactive on the opening day, went down 56-13 at St Boswells.

It was worrying to see that two matches in the division – Leith v Walkerburn and Broughton’s trip to Moray House – were called off as some of the clubs could not raise a side and hopefully other matches will not fall by the wayside in the coming weeks.

In RBS East One Preston Lodge, Livingston and RHC Cougars all recorded their second bonus point wins of the campaign. PL won 46-24 at Berwick, Livingston battled hard to win 35-30 at Duns and the Cougars edged out Portobello 31-28, the latter having been 28-17 up before a great comeback from the hosts.

North Berwick defeated
Linlithgow 18-11 and Dunbar saw off Langholm 38-10.

Dalkeith won 18-14 at
Trinity Accies to leave them in second place in the RBS East Two
table.

Forrester played well to see off Lismore 39-22, Edinburgh Northern dug deep to win 22-18 at Gala YM, but Ross High lost 58-18 at Hawick Linden.
