Rugby: Hamilton's Barbarians call-up a great gong for player as well as Currie

Scotland clubs' rugby prop Ally Hamilton has brought further honour to his Currie club by being only the second Malleny Park player to be selected for the prestigious Barbarians invitation side. Hamilton will follow in the footsteps of ex-Scotland prop Alan Watt when he turns out for the Baa-baas against Richmond on April 12 to mark that club's 150th anniversary.

Currie president, John Muir, hailed the accolade, saying: "This is a great honour for Hammy."

Earlier this season 22-year-old Hamilton's potential was noted when he was asked to assist the All Blacks when injuries and suspension left them short handed for a scrummaging session during their visit to Scotland for a Murrayfield Test.
