Rugby: East women unbeaten after crushing win

East tennis women proved a ruthless side in sweeping to a 9-0 victory over Dorset to
retain their unbeaten record
in division three of the
AEGON summer county cup at Ilkley.

However, despite three wins from three by top couple Alan Macdonald and Graeme Dyce the East men, who are in division three at Cambridge, went down 6-3 to Leicestershire.

During their win, the women conceded a total of just 12 games from the combinations comprising Aisha Kerr and Sarah Mcfadyen, Emma Devine and Liana Park and Mhairi Brown and Sonia Vickers.

This augurs well as the margin was not only decisive but the scores much wider than when Dorset were whitewashed by Berkshire, whom the East meet today.

However, East will soon have to change a winning team as Dunfermline’s park is unavailable from tomorrow and the hope is that 14-year-old Blackhall prospect Millie Stretton will shake off injury to be able to join up with the team.

East men, who brought in Neil McPhee for Stuart Crerar, today face West of Scotland.
