Rugby: Cup on tour as Edinburgh eye big prize

European club rugby’s top trophy made an appearance at a Midlothian school yesterday ahead of Edinburgh’s showdown with French giants Toulouse in the Heineken Cup quarter-finals.

As well as the famous cup itself, Edinburgh hooker Steven Lawrie joined Sep Visser and Dougie Fife in Penicuik.

Their club has made it to the knockout stage of the European Cup for the first time since 2004 and take on the French giants at Murrayfield on 7 April.

And Edinburgh are taking the trophy on tour throughout March to promote the game.

Lawrie said: “This is the biggest club rugby match to ever take place in Scotland so to be part of that as a player is massive, but it’s important that everyone feels part of it.
