Rugby: Clash beats freeze, but Accies slip to third

Edinburgh ACCIES slipped to third place in the Premier B table after going down 32-12 away to Stirling County.

The host club's decision to cover the pitch ensured the match was the only fixture to beat the freeze and they were rewarded with a win that moves them into pole position in the race for the four available slots in the top flight next season.

Accies had only a try by skipper Dan Teague ten minutes before the break to show for their efforts as they reached the interval 13-5 in arrears - Graham Lindsay touching down for Stirling with Brian Archibald kicking the other points.

Mike McDonald extended the hosts' advantage with a converted try but Josh Pequeur answered in kind. Ruaridh Bonner's conversion trimmed the deficit to eight points.

Stirling's Bengi Barsanti powered over for a converted try before getting a second yellow but the hosts bagged a bonus point with a late Tim Clarke try.
