Rugby: Clark and Lasswade shine

NEIL CLARK bagged two tries as Lasswade defeated Linlithgow on Saturday to stay top of National One.

The Midlothian men won 45-7 at Mains Park to leave them two points clear of Greenock Wanderers in the title race.

Lasswade built up a 12-0 lead thanks to four penalties from Gavin Brown. The visitors then scored tries through youngster Kyle Smith and Craig Quigley to go into the break comfortably 24-0 up. Linlithgow then got on the scoreboard with a converted try before Clark and Nick Wood took control. Lasswade were firstly awarded a penalty try and then Clark went over twice.

Livingston sit fourth after a tight 6-5 home loss to Ellon. RHC Cougars defeated Murrayfield Wanderers 35-20 while Edinburgh University beat bottom side Irvine 49-7.

In National Three Preston Lodge won 32-15 at Forrester. North Berwick lost 19-10 at Helensburgh and rock bottom Ross High lost 62-7 at GHK.
