Rugby: Capital sides Bowled over

There will be no local clubs competing in the Regional Bowl final this year after Trinity Accies lost out in the quarter- finals on Saturday.

The Capital side went out 17-14 at Bangholm to Caledonia One side Ross Sutherland from Invergordon. The result leaves Ross Sutherland to battle it out for final places with Lenzie, Strathendrick and Duns.

In East One, Dalkeith secured their place in the league for next term with a 26-8 away win at Hawick Harlequins.

It means they are likely to finish seventh and won two of their last three matches to survive.

Portobello's 59-0 win over Earlston means Moray House can still leapfrog the Borderers and stay up if they win their last match in a fortnight.

The students would have to win at Hawick Harlequins with a bonus point though. Lismore beat Dunbar 21-14 and look set to finish third.

In East Tow, Leith beat Walkerburn 40-7, while at Arboretum Inverleith defeated Liberton 44-0. Queensferry went down 14-10 at home to St Boswells.
