Rugby: Broughton produce killer touch to regain top spot

Broughton went back to the top of East Two at the weekend with a clinical 31-8 victory over Leith.

The Edinburgh side took advantage of Gala YM's match against Edinburgh Northern being postponed to leapfrog them into first place.

At Academy Park Donald Hughes led the way with two tries while Jonathan Beaton, Marius Briedenhann and Chris Millar also went over for scores.

Dan Arrandale converted three of the tries and the only downside for Broughton in the away win was that prop David Cribbes broke his hand and will be out of action for a while. Broughton president Mark Brown said: "The guys have shown great commitment in recent months despite the lack of games and they want to bounce back to East One at the first attempt."

Inverleith moved up to seventh with a 15-10 win over Queensferry at Arboretum, the only other match played in East Two on Saturday.

In the top of the table East One clash Portobello went down 33-9 to Duns, meaning Lismore are now in second place after edging out Moray House 12-11.

Trinity Accies defeated Dunbar 11-5 and Penicuik got only their second win of the season as they saw off Earlston 13-10.
