Rugby: Boroughmuir strengthen in quest for new-look Scottish Cup success

Boroughmuir are set to welcome back former Scotland age-group internationalist Tom Bury as well as ex-Edinburgh hooker Sean Crombie against Stirling County at Meggetland on Saturday when the teams meet as part of a new look Scottish Cup now being conducted on a sectional basis.

'Muir are already up and running with a 10-0 win at Dalziel before the freeze arrived and will be keen to develop that challenge especially with a strengthened side.

While Bury has been injured and missing from the starting line-up since September, Crombie signed off a month later to assist Newcastle Falcons on a short-term deal having posted a try "hat-trick" in one of his last outings.

Crombie will be at the heart of a front row which also has one of Scotland's top prop prospects, Robin Hislop, back after training with the Scotland Under-20 squad.

Meanwhile, Boroughmuir official Peter Blackhall has backed the new-look cup, saying: "The format brings some excitement to a competition that has been lacking some focus over the past few years."
