Rugby: Bill McLaren to inspire Scotland in Six Nations match with England

SCOTLAND rugby star Rory Lawson is hoping tonight's celebration of the life of his commentator grandfather Bill McLaren can inspire the home side to another RBS Six Nations Championship win over England at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Tonight's event goes ahead at Murrayfield at 6.30pm with free access to the public and substitute scrum-half Lawson said the man whom he called "Papa" would have approved of build-up starting early to something as historic as the annual Calcutta Cup match.

"The event is perhaps going to act as a springboard into the game for a lot of the rugby public. I hope it builds into a special weekend," said the man likely to win his 18th cap at some stage.

"The fact everybody is welcome to be part of acknowledging and celebrating Papa's life is great."
