Rugby: Big brother Alex keen to get Grove on

ANOTHER set of rugby brothers could be moving towards appearing side by side for Scotland with Alex and Olly Grove involved this weekend for, respectively, the full side and under-20s.

While centre Alex made his mark in the Autumn tests and figures on the bench when France visit Murrayfield on Sunday, Olly is on the wing against the same opposition in Inverness tonight.

Proud Alex says it is a target for the pair to appear together, starting at club side Worcester, and hopefully progressing to the senior international ranks.

"Olly can play anywhere in the back three, is pretty quick and has a good boot on him," said Alex. "The Evans brothers will both play for Scotland on Sunday and what a buzz that must be for their family."

Max Evans gains the centre berth at the expense of Grove after sterling displays in a Glasgow team topping the Celtic League. But Grove is keen to play a part, saying: "Scotland want to play a fast, high-tempo game and I like that style."

Meanwhile Alex Blair, brother of capped scrum half, Mike, is at stand off tonight in an under-20 side also featuring fellow Edinburgh Accies players David Denton and Tom Brown. Watsonian Stuart McInally is captain while Currie provide Alun Walker and Dougie Fife, with a Heriot's duo Craig Owenson and Mike Maltman also starting.
