Ross Murdoch among contenders as pupils face Olympians

End of term, but this is going to be a week of examinations for Scotland's school swimmers at the Scottish Championships at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow.

Scott McLay, who helped Strathallan win double gold at theBrodies Scottish Relay Championships, is one of the teenagers out to prove they are ready to take on the seniors.

Tom Beeley (Banchory Academy), the Kyle Academy Robertson sisters, Erin and Katie, Anna Fleming (High School of Glasgow) and the Firrhill High School pair of Keanna MacInnes and Lexi Waller are all potential stars of the fuure.

Scotland’s Olympians will all be on show as they tweak their final preparations for Rio. Ross Murdoch, a medal contender in Brazil in August, will be in the 50m breaststroke on the opening day on Thursday.

The Championships run until Sunday and will be an ideal opportunity for swim fans to give Scotland’s Olympians a perfect send-off.
