Ross Ford believes Scots can win the scrum

Armed with footage of the All Black's creaking scrum at Twickenham, Scotland hooker Ross Ford believes Scotland can edge the front-row battle when the teams meet tomorrow.

New Zealand field a stronger pack to the one that creaked against Scotland in 2008, even with Hika Elliot coming in for his debut opposite Ford. But the Scots have a more solid and experienced look, too. Each pack weighs around 140 stones, Scotland's giant locks making up for a front row giving three stones to their counterparts.

Ford said: "The set-piece is still important because if you can dominate there it can provide great platforms to attack off.

"We're going out to put a lot of pressure on the All Blacks scrum. It's going to be a fast game though, and things won't always start from set-piece, so we've got to be able to switch on to turnover and counter-attack at any point, and that's what we've been focusing on.

"The New Zealand pack is really physical at the breakdown, aggressive and effective, and we've got to combat that. We have to go toe-to-toe with them in that area and beat them."
