Rose through after late show

LINLITHGOW continued their impressive form as they saw off Camelon in an East of Scotland Cup quarter-final which was much tighter than the 3-0 scoreline suggests.

Forming a pre-match guard of honour for the 2010 Junior Cup winners was the last bit of respect the Camelon players showed their opponents as the home side dominated the first half against a sluggish Rose team which contained several changes from the side that defeated Largs on Sunday.

Indeed, Rose had keeper Pinkowski to thank for keeping them in the tie as he made vital saves from Allison and Bachelor. Camelon thought they had a penalty on the hour mark when Manson impeded Bachelor but referee Hogg opted to give the free-kick just outside the box.

With the game drifting towards penalties, the visitors got the breakthrough when John Ward rose unchallenged to nod home Manson's corner after 81 minutes.

Camelon threw bodies forward in search of an equaliser but the Linlithgow defence held out resolutely and, with the clock running down, substitute Livingstone burst forward and played Manson through. His square pass was met by Coyne, who thumped the ball past a helpless Hutchinson.

Rose repeated their smash-and-grab tactics in injury time as Manson wrapped up victory.
