Rose frustrated by early exits but hopes to return

SEAN Rose cast aside a disappointing end to his 2010 Paralympic Winter Games and vowed to continue skiing for as long as he enjoyed the competition.

Sit-skiing Teessider Rose, 38, crashed out of the super combined on Saturday in the first run, the second event in as many days that his challenge had been brought to a premature end at Whistler Creekside. On Friday, a cracked ski had led to him crashing out of the super-G to leave Rose frustrated with his two top-10 finishes achieved earlier in the week in the downhill (seventh) and slalom (eighth).

"Never say never," he said when asked about the 2014 Games.

The inaugural super combined saw the sitting gold medal go to Germany's Martin Braxenthaler, who finished 2.64 seconds ahead of Austrian duo Jurgen Egle in second and Philipp Bonadimann.

The ParalympicsGB skiers will come away from Whistler with five top-10 finishes, Northern Ireland's Kelly Gallagher coming fourth in the slalom – visually impaired, and sixth in the giant slalom, while Anna Turney of Northampton claimed sixth in the Slalom – sitting.
