Rob Hayles hails late Endura surge

ENDURA Racing rider/manager Rob Hayles has conceded that the West Lothian-based cycling team may have left their final effort too late, despite posting a clean sweep in the penultimate race of the Halfords Tour Series.

The former world track champion was reflecting on an impressive victory by Jack Bauer around the streets of Chester.

The Kiwi powered clear in the closing laps of the race to come home well clear and was followed over the line by Ian Wilkinson and Hayles as a dominant Endura team snatched a vital win to prolong their chances of overall success.

They remain second, now two points behind leaders Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta,

and Hayles said: "We thought it was not going to happen but we're all starting to feel good now – nine races in unfortunately."

The series concludes in Woking tomorrow night when Endura must finish at least two places ahead of their Motorpoint rivals.
