River runs for Hannon in Needler

THE Richard Hannon bandwagon rolls into Beverley this evening for the Listed Hilary Needler Trophy.

The in-form handler runs Inagh River in the five-furlong event, which was won by Attraction in 2003. After seeing the likes of Paco Boy, Canford Cliffs and countless juveniles hit the mark in recent weeks, Hannon is hoping the Fasilyev filly can keep up the good run.

"The plan was to send Penny's Pearl for the Listed race too but she got sick," he said. "However, I think Inagh River has what it takes to run a big race – she won well at Nottingham and was then only just chinned on the line by our own The Sydney Arms at Newbury. While we don't have a brilliant draw (stall six), I hope she'll be in the shake-up."

John Wainwright won the 2007 renewal with Loch Jipp and runs the maiden Miserere this year. "She's got terrific speed and is a very fresh horse," he said.
