Returning Wallace Booth surges into lead

Wallace Booth marked his first competitive outing in five months by taking the lead in the weather-hit European Tour qualifying school stage one contest at Dundonald Links.

The Comrie rookie, who has been out since April with a niggling shoulder injury, battled through the tough conditions and posted a two-over 74. Booth finished the delayed first round a shot clear of English amateur Billy Hemstock and former Scottish PGA champion Chris Kelly, who had his 75 on Tuesday. Jack Doherty is in a share of fourth after a 76.
