Resilient Elena Baltacha wins Michigan title

ELENA Baltacha fought back from a set down to win the International Tennis Federation's Midland tournament in Michigan.

The 26-year-old Scot dropped the first set – and her first in the $100,000 tournament – 7-5 to the Czech Republic's Lucie Hradecka but then rallied to win the next two sets 6-2, 6-3.

Baltacha had earlier won her semi-final tie 6-3, 6-1 against Poland's Domachowska – a quarter-final victor over Briton Anne Keothavong. Keothavong's elimination came in her first tour event after coming back from more than six months out injured.
