Relegation-haunted Penicuik turn to trio led by Glynn

PENICUIK ATHLETIC, fighting for survival in the East Region Juniors Premier Division, have appointed a new management team of Pat Glynn, Craig Meikle and Brian Ryrie.

The trio take over from Stuart "Snowy" McKean, who left the Midlothian club just before Christmas following a poor run of results.

Glynn, the former Bonnyrigg Rose boss, was sacked by Tranent earlier in the season and was in the crowd when Penicuik played Linlithgow Rose in the East of Scotland Cup in mid-November.

Meikle, who played for both Bonnyrigg and Musselburgh, is the current Penicuik club captain, while Ryrie had two spells with the club as a player.

"We had a lot of candidates for the job," said club secretary Neil Gordon. "One was ruled out because of distance and another had to be discounted as it came too late.

"Pat Glynn knows the Junior game inside out and he will be able to provide valuable advice as part of the management team we have put in place.

"We are in a terrible position in the league. We are fighting to stay in the Premier Division and believe we can achieve that target with this management team."

The trio will meet the players for the first time in their new roles at a training session tomorrow morning.
