Rejuvenated Heriot's aim to maintain their momentum

HIGH-FLYING Heriot's welcome Stoneywood-Dyce to Goldenacre for arguably the day's most intriguing tie.

Kiwi left-arm spinner Matthew Thomas, who hails from the same town as Test star Daniel Vettori, and shares an uncannily similar action, has been in fine form for the Edinburgh outfit lately, as have young seamer Jamie Innes, and new keeper Adam Lockhart-Krause. And Heriot's captain Steve Knox is delighted by the rapid progress of his revamped side.

"These are very early days yet, but last week's league win at Ayr and our Scottish Cup win over Watsonians have reignited a lot of confidence in the club after last year's relegation," he said.

The Goldenacre men will have their work cut out against a Stoneywood side buoyed by their demolition of Freuchie in the cup last Sunday. Skipper Nikhil Ninan names the same squad that racked up a massive 339 for 6 last week, saying: "Our top order clicked and when that happens we can beat anyone in this league."

Stirling County reintroduce batsmen James Miller in place of the unavailable Glenn Rogers for their trip to Poloc. The Shawholm outfit hand an SNCL debut to ex-Stirling seamer James Blackburn, who replaces Keith Sheridan. Falkland, who beat Penicuik last week, bring in all-rounder Jimmy Cachia for the injured Craig Hepburn as they host Ayr. The visitors will blood 14-year old twins Eliot and Luke Speirs. Arbroath United, yet to find any consistency, bring in Peter Clarke and Craig Ramsay for Nicky Sim and Saltires-bound keeper Marc Petrie as they host a winless Penicuik side who bring in Jamie Mitchell for Cammy Crawford.

Elsewhere, struggling Stenhousemuir, still seeking a settled line-up and a first win, travel to Coatbridge to face Drumpellier. The visitors bring in all-rounder Graeme Gardner while Stewart White will captain the side, with Peter Moses and Aaron Williamson dropping out.
