Referee feedback ruling under review

RFU referees' chief Ed Morrison is to review the current process of allowing written communication between coaches and referees at half-time in Guinness Premiership matches. The move comes in the wake of Saracens director of rugby Brendan Venter being found guilty of "implying criticism of the match referee by stating that he had been influenced at half-time" about the performance of referee David Rose in a recent match.

The South African was given a four-week ban but Judge Jeff Blackett's ruling said: "This system does allow coaches to influence the referee and there is potential for that influence to be improper."
