Rangers' 1,500 tickets for Hibs game all sold

HIBERNIAN yesterday advised Rangers fans that the away allocation of 1,500 tickets for Sunday's meeting between the sides at Easter Road has now sold-out.

The chances are high that the stadium could host a title party this weekend with Rangers requiring only a victory to secure a second successive championship. Indeed, the Ibrox side's status as champions could be confirmed before a ball is kicked at Easter Road should Celtic slip up against Dundee United, in a match which kicks-off earlier in the afternoon.

But a Hibs spokesperson has stressed that any Rangers fans still seeking tickets for the match at Easter Road, where the capacity has been cut due to on- going redevelopment work, are guaranteed to meet with disappointment. "The match has been sold-out since last week," he said. "The 1,500 allocation has been sold directly to Rangers fans."

The Ibrox club's supporters have been allocated half of the south stand, where they will be housed in both the top and bottom tiers. The number of tickets is the same as that which will be handed to the visiting fans from both Hearts and Celtic in the coming weeks. There are no plans to increase this total despite the significance of the match for the Ibrox side, who also won the title at Easter Road in 2005.

"There will be the same procedures in place for any other Category A game," added the spokesperson. "There will be no additional tickets for Rangers supporters – even the hospitality areas are now sold out."
