And another two from the Glasgow School of Sport based at Bellahouston Academy – Scott Waddell and Ciar Pringle – reached finals.

Matthew Grimley won the under-13 singles and then teamed up with Christopher to add the doubles title.

It was a great effort by the two 4’10” boys, whose parents, Jane and Alan, were county players.

Matthew Grimley beat Waddell in the singles final. His family has shown great commitment to the sport. They have moved from Stonehaven to Glasgow for the school of sport – Scott’s mum, Nina, is Danish, Europe’s leading badminton nation.

In the under-13 girls’ events, Shona Whillans (Preston Lodge High School) won all three titles.

She took the singles, the girls’ doubles with Sarah Brogan (George Heriot’s) and the mixed with Glen Lewington (Craigmount High School).
