Price freeze to lure fans back to Scotstoun

The thousands of fans who attended the inaugural Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s are being given a chance to snap up their tickets weeks before they go on general sale – the earliest they have available.

As a ‘thank you’ for their backing, the ticket price for sevens supporters who came to Scotstoun Stadium last May to see the world sevens spectacle will be frozen at 2012 ‘early bird’ prices, meaning fans can snap up a ticket for just £10 for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s in 2013.

Tickets go on sale today with a deadline for the offer of 31 August.

As an added incentive to buy early, supporters who enjoyed the unique atmosphere created in Glasgow can also show a friend what they missed out on with a special ‘bring-a-mate’ deal, a 50 per cent discount on the advance ticket prices.

General sale tickets for next year’s tournament, which is being held on 4 and 5 May – a Bank Holiday weekend – will be available to supporters from
1 September.

Dominic McKay, the SRU’s
director of communications and public affairs, is anticipating more record attendances next year.

He said: “This is the earliest we’ve ever put tickets on sale for the Scottish leg of the series and, considering the success of last year, we think we’ll see a packed out Scotstoun in 2013.

“We broke our own record for attendance for our very first event in Glasgow with nearly 27,000 people attending. With a capacity of 30,000 at the stadium, it’s best people take advantage of the offer and get in early so they don’t miss out.”

A new family ticket, for use only in the Family Stand, is also announced today, meaning a family of four (two adults and two children) can enjoy a day at the sevens for just £35.

The ‘Loyalty’ price tickets are available from £10 for the Family and Party Stands, with all concessions at half price.
