Preston win Scottish Rugby Club of the Month award

PRESTON Lodge have won the first Scottish Rugby Club of the Month award of 2011 and the £1000 cash prize.

The club enjoyed a winning streak against Hawick Linden, Ross High and league leaders Marr last month, which brought 14 points out of 15. They also had a good discipline record with no red or yellow cards.

The East Lothian club that produced Scotland caps Scott Murray and Allan Jacobsen have been leading rugby in primary and high schools around Prestonpans.

"The kids love rugby and a lot of hard work gets put into our youth development scheme, and it's good to see appreciation of that from Scottish Rugby (the SRU]," said club development officer Dougie Thomson.
