Pour Moi aimed at Arc trial

Andre Fabre has confirmed the Prix Niel at Longchamp as the next competitive racecourse appearance for his Investec Derby hero Pour Moi.

The master French trainer finally broke his duck in the Epsom Classic as the three-year-old flew from the rear to deny Treasure Beach by a head, and the form could hardly be working out better. The runner-up went on to claim Irish Derby glory and even well-beaten pair Masked Marvel and Pisco Sour have been successful in Group company since.

Fabre has an excellent record in September's Prix Niel, a Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe trial, and hopes Pour Moi can add to the tally before becoming his ninth Arc hero a few weeks later.

"He is fine and is still semi-resting at the moment. He could do something more next week," said Fabre. "The Prix Niel will be his next race and the Arc is his target, obviously.

"He is a horse with an excellent turn of foot and I think he will improve - all horses improve with time. The Epsom form looks good, but in the Arc of course he will be in competition with the older horses and I also have a lot of respect for the Japanese horses that are coming. I think they are very good."

Meanwhile, Dancing Rain and Rumh have both been supplemented for the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh on Sunday. The former, trained by William Haggas, bids to become the third successive filly after Sariska and Snow Fairy to complete the Oaks double after winning at Epsom.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained Rumh disappointed in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot after winning in good style at Newbury. Owners Godolphin also have Blue Bunting, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni in the list. She was only fourth behind Dancing Rain at Epsom after winning the 1,000 Guineas.

Aidan O'Brien has won this race three times and has six possibles among the 14 fillies remaining at the confirmation stage. They are headed by the favourite Wonder Of Wonders, who was only three-quarters of a length behind Dancing Rain in the Investec Oaks, and the fifth that day, Misty For Me. Amazing Beauty, Gemstone, Make My Heart Sing and Why make up the O'Brien sextet.Banimpire and Hurricane Havoc represent Jim Bolger while David Wachman's Chrysanthemum, Jessica Harrington's Laughing Lashes and Mick Channon's Zain Al Boldan are the other entries.
