Portobello end cup campaign on high with cosy victory

PORTY ended up sharing fifth place with Balbardie as they finished a massive 14 points adrift of section champions East Lothian.

Wins for the rinks skipped by George Gray, Alex Walker and Tony McLaren, plus a peel for David McLeod, reflected a strong team performance for the home side.

Meanwhile, city rivals Bainfield finished the campaign on a low by losing 73-53 at home to Midlothian, who leapfrogged their opponents to snatch second spot on shot margin, while Balbardie crushed Teviotdale 117-34 at Bathgate.

After losing their opening match at Balbardie, East Lothian responded with a magnificent 13 wins on the trot, climaxed by a 65-57 win over West Lothian at Livingston.
