Points penalty forces Aberdeen Uni withdrawal

ABERDEEN University have withdrawn from the Scottish Hydro Regional Bowl.

Following the investigation of a complaint, received by the Caledonia Regional Competitions Committee, Aberdeen University have been penalised five Championship points for fielding of a non-registered player in a league match.

As a result of this investigation, and further communication with club officials, Aberdeen University have decided to withdraw from the Scottish Hydro Regional Bowl.

Their withdrawal means that beaten round two opponents, Mackie, will take their place in the quarter-final against North Berwick at Redcloak, Stonehaven tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).

Mackie's league fixture against Kinross, due to be played tomorrow, will be rescheduled.

Meanwhile, Gala YM have been docked 19 championship points for the fielding of an ineligible player/s in four league matches, after a complaint was received by the East Regional Competitions Committee.

The club has seven days from receipt of the decision to make an appeal.
