Play-off berths certain to go down to the wire

Who goes through to the promotion play-offs from RBS Premier 2 will go to the final game next week with only Stewart’s Melville guaranteed a place despite losing to Watsonians, who pull themselves up to third spot in the table. Marcus Di Rollo had a brace of tries for Watsonians, Howard Grant had one and Brian Walls collected 15 points with three penalties and three conversions in their 30-28 win over the league leaders.

Saturday’s final match of the first half of the league will decide which of three from the next four in the table will go into the play-off mix, second- placed Hamilton only ahead of third place Watsonians on differential, Jedforest in fourth two points behind them on 31 and Selkirk in fifth on 30 points.

Hamilton stay second after an equally close clash at Laigh Bent but Peebles came back from 21-10 down at half-time to snatch a bonus going down finally by 24-22. Rory Steel’s second-half drop goal clinched the points for Hamilton.
