Pittman on a mission to lay bogey to rest

The Fife and Lothians Cup tie between Premier League Broxburn and the South Division's Spartans Juniors is a personal mission for Broxburn boss Steve Pittman.

"I've never beaten them, so it would be sweet to do it this time," he said. "There's been some changes at Spartans but overall the way they play will still make it hard for us.

"It won't be easy, that's for sure. We're having quite a good season, better than we expected. All we wanted to do at the start was to make sure we were still in the Premier League at the end of the season.

"It's very hard to get out of the South Division with only the champions getting promoted so we don't want to go back there. This is our last cup so we want to have a good run and take our minds off the league. It's a different type of game to our league business and it takes the pressure off us a bit.

He added: "The players are all looking forward to the end of the season and anything it brings.

"Glenrothes still look to be the champions but if we keep winning our games, starting against Spartans on Saturday, then who knows?

"We have everyone fit, although they don't tell me if they are not because they know it'll be difficult for them to get back into the side.

"If the players on the park don't measure up then they're back sitting beside me."

This will be a tough game for Broxburn and one which may go to penalties.

In the same cup, Edinburgh are in Fife at Glenrothes while Penicuik face an Oakley team on top of their form. Blackburn have a home tie against Super League side Hill of Beath.
