Pittman is at mercy of cold snap

With Aberdeen having been hit by snow earlier in the week, Broxburn are waiting to hear if the third-round tie can go-ahead tomorrow.

"I think it is probably going to be off," admitted Pittman, who is looking forward to the break from Premier Division action but, at the same time, is hoping it doesn't have an adverse effect on his team's title hopes.

Broxburn, who made it three wins in a row after scraping a 1-0 victory at Whitburn last Saturday, are six points clear of second-placed Glenrothes.

But, with the Junior Cup taking priority, that lead could soon disappear if the West Lothian side saw the Culter tie hit by a series of cancellations due to the weather.

"I want it to be played as soon as possible - tomorrow, ideally," added Pittman. "The good thing for us, I suppose, is that we've played four teams twice already in the Premier Division so hopefully we won't have a problem catching up on fixtures later in the season, as we did in the South League last season."

Bonnyrigg are also on a decent run at the moment, Alan Miller's men having bounced back from their defeat by Linlithgow to beat Bathgate in the league last weekend.

Tomorrow Rose entertain Pumpherston in the Scottish Cup, while Musselburgh, who will still be smarting from a 5-1 home defeat by Forfar West End, also face West Lothian opponents in Stoneyburn, who have home advantage for that tie.

Frustratingly for them, no doubt, after a morale-boosting win over Hill of Beath last weekend, Newtongrange will have to wait before welcoming Beith to New Victoria Park as the Ayrshire side are due to be on duty in a replay with Airdrie United in the SFA's version of the Scottish Cup.

However, Junior Cup fever will be thick in the air at Haddington, where Rosyth are the visitors, with Tranent and Bo'ness both hitting the road as they face ties against Glenrothes and Yoker respectively.
