Phillips pulls off shock win at Frimley Green

DARTS: MARTIN Phillips and Martin Adams will clash in the BDO World Championship semi-finals after winning their last-eight clashes last night.

Veteran Welshman Phillips – a 125/1 outsider at the start of the week – sprang a major surprise by ousting second seed Scott Waites 5-4 in a thriller at Frimley Green.

Fellow old-timer Adams, meanwhile, had little trouble beating Garry Thompson 5-2 in less than an hour.

The 53-year-old third seed was in control throughout before the Yorkshireman mounted a late – but ultimately futile – fightback.
