Peugeot bag Le Mans

Peugeot maintained their impressive record in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup with a one-two finish in the season finale at Zhuhai in China.

Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Bourdais began the race in pole position and held on to that lead throughout, taking the title in a total time of six hours, one minute and 24.879 seconds.

Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin finished 38.651secs adrift of the leaders in their Peugeot 908, while Audi pair Timo Bernhard and Marcel Fassler completed the podium.

Yesterday’s success means Peugeot have won every race in the Le Mans Cup this season.

Allan McNish’s season of woe continued as he and team-mate Tom Kristensen were forced to retire their Audi R18 TDi after a collision. A third, two fourths and a sixth is all McNish has to show for the series. “I’m very sad with the race outcome,” said McNish. “Tom, myself, and of course the team, are bitterly disappointed as we had a very good car with great speed today.”

McNish added: “Rest assured I’ll bounce back from this disappointing season and come back bigger and stronger.”
