Penicuik hold out for win

Montrose Roselea 2 Penicuik Athletic 1

THIS was a must-win game for Penicuik and their nerves were steadied when they went ahead after just seven minutes, writes JIM DICK.

Ross Montgomery got the vital opener and that was followed up 20 minutes later by a second, this time from Craig Miller.

After going in at half-time two up, Athletic gave themselves a nervy closing period when they conceded a penalty, which allowed Montrose's Ewan Graham to pull a goal back in the 67th minute.

However, they defended well for the remainder of the match and picked up three vital Premier League points against the bottom-of-the-league side.

Montrose's Colin Kennedy was sent off for a second yellow card with just minutes left on the clock.
