Penicuik are pegged back

Penicuik took the lead in the ninth minute when a long kick out by Bald was allowed to bounce by the Musselburgh central defenders and Harvey took advantage and lobbed the ball over keeper Renton's head.

Penicuik piled on the pressure and, nine minutes later, a corner kick to the back post was driven goalwards by Barr but was deflected.

The ball fell to Harvey, who turned quickly and slammed the ball into the net from six yards. On the half hour, Harvey had a chance for his hat-trick, but mishit his shot and Renton saved comfortably.

Right on half time, Penicuik were caught with a sucker punch when a neat flick over the heads of the defence found King, who volleyed the ball in off the post to pull one back for Musselburgh. Early in the second half, Penicuik twice had net-bound shots blocked.

Then, in the 51st minute, Renton got past the Penicuik defence to chip the ball over the advancing Bald for the equaliser. In their next attack, the same player was pulled down in the box by Bald. However, the keeper redeemed himself by saving King's penalty strike. Penicuik then had a lean 20-minute spell when Musselburgh went all out for the winner, but were unable to penetrate the home defence.
