Peebles 17 - 32 Watsonians: Jamie Forbes helps Watsonians edge nearer top flight

Teenager Jamie Forbes was the difference between the two Premier B sides at The Gytes as Watsonians moved a step closer to securing a top-flight place for next term with victory over Peebles.

The bonus point win for the Edinburgh side means that they currently sit in fourth place, four points ahead of Aberdeen Grammar ahead of the two sides meeting at Rubislaw early next month in their final league match.

Full-back Forbes' pace caused the hosts all sorts of problems throughout, bursting through gaps on a number of occasions and running great angles which led to him scoring a well-earned hat-trick of tries.

Watsonians' two other tries came from former Howe of Fife playmaker Ross Aitken and prop Danny Moussa, with Mike Ker kicking the remainder of the points.

For the home side, who now look set to finish seventh in Premier B, their home-grown side put in a battling performance which did them credit. However, when it mattered they simply did not have anyone of the quality of Forbes on the pitch.

Their three tries came from Alan Warnock, Dale Clancy and Ken Clyde in defeat.
