Paul Shields on a charge as David Law retains Durban lead

David Law stayed on course to complete a wire-to-wire win in the South African Amateur Strokeplay championship at Mount Edgecombe in Durban.

The Aberdeen teenager posted a one-under 71 for a 14-under 202 and heads into the final round a shot ahead of Jarod Harvey and two clear of the charging Kirkhill youngster Paul Shields.

Law, setting the pace after opening rounds of 64 and 67, covered the first five holes of his third round in three-under but a trio of bogeys at six, 13 and 18 allowed the chasing pack to narrow the gap.
