Patrick surges into lead at Deer Park

DEER PARK MASTERS: David Patrick powered into the halfway lead in the Tartan Tour's Indbuild Ltd Deer Park Masters near Livingston last night.

The former European Challenge Tour winner fired a seven-under 65 and finished a stroke ahead of Robert Arnott and Lindsay Mann. Birdies on the opening two holes got Patrick off to a flying start and the former Walker Cup player picked up shots at five, six and seven to turn in five-under.

Patrick's only bogey came on the 16th, but the Elie pro still covered his inward half in two-under as he took charge of the order of merit event. Former European Tour player Chris Doak finished in a share of fourth on 67, while Mark King claimed the team honours as he led the Indbuild amateur trio of Arthur Campbell, Richard Nash and Neil McIntyre to victory.
