Patrick picks up PGA rookie award

DAVID Patrick, who played out of Mortonhall as an amateur but is now attached to Elie Sports Club in Fife, has won the Titleist PGA Rookie of the Year Award.

The 36-year-old, a team-mate of Paul Casey and Luke Donald when Great Britain & Ireland won the 1999 Walker Cup at Nairn, picked up the Major John Bywaters Memorial Trophy as well as a cheque for 1,000.

PGA chief executive Sandy Jones said: "This is a tremendous achievement for David and marks a year of hard work. He deserves huge applause for his outstanding efforts and I wish him more success during the rest of his foundation degree."
