Partick Thistle 1 - 0 Dundee: Boyle's strike sneaks victory

Thistle put last week's bad day at Kirkcaldy behind them to open their home campaign with a narrow win thanks to a goal from Paddy Boyle that the Dundee defence will want to forget.

There was nothing tentative about the start to the game, Thistle's best chance of the half coming in the first minute. Ian Flannigan whipped in a free kick from the left but diving Liam Buchanan just failed to connect.

Thistle's first corner after 20 minutes only resulted in Dundee breaking quickly. Colin McMenamin found the always dangerous Leigh Griffiths but his shot was scrambled clear by Jags' keeper Bryn Halliwell. Craig McKeown came even closer - his flick-on from a corner bounced along the Jags' crossbar.

Thistle's Martin Greehan and then Buchanan failed in front of goal when through.

However, in 71 minutes the Jags took the lead when Paddy Boyle turned the ball between the sticks from the narrowest of angles.
